Standing in the Way of Repentance.

Hello friends. Back again after a long hiatus. This week I would like to focus on sin and repentance. I know it may sound heavy to some of you, but I was thinking the other day about sin and what was its opposite. At first glance I looked on the internet and it said that there was no antonym for sin in the English language. I thought that was pretty heavy and told myself, "Stop here. There's no need to go farther. Maybe sinning was something we were supposed to do and could be looked at as a positive thing." Suffice it to say, that did not pan out for me.

Looking more closely, I saw that grace was the opposite of sin and I had to look at sin as a verb and grace as well. As a younger man, I remember my Mother saying to me, "You decided to grace us with your presence." From there I felt more comfortable with the usage of grace as a verb. I also remembered from the Bible that "The wages of sin is death."

So, conversely, "the wages of grace is life." (quote mine).

From this bit of scripture, we can see that there is a chance to gain more life by giving grace (which is defined as doing honor or credit to someone or something by one's presence); perhaps in the way Jesus graced us by coming to this world in human form or God giving us grace by giving his son to us.

Something to think about as we move along in this world. Which leaves me with another note; I also jotted down on my mobile phone that Man's problem is not sin but not overcoming sin. Maybe, we can learn something from Jesus and give of ourselves and in that way gain more life; as Jesus questioned in the Sermon on the Mount, "If you only love those who love you and not those who hate you, where is your reward?"

Until next time, remember God loves you and so do I.
