Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents. Let me st

ree

art by wishing all Happy Holidays and a good weekend. In today's blog I am going to talk about the ERA (Equal Right's Amendment). The other day I learned, after watching an episode of "Family Ties" from the late 80s, that the ERA has yet to be ratified. This shocked me as I was thinking after the show, which dealt with the topic, that the ERA surely was added to the constitution by now... Not! (like my generation used to say in those days) After I googled the topic to see if it was, I found that a significant number of states had not done so. Most of these states lay in the "Bible Belt".

Not to dwell too much on the past but the ERA was first proposed to Congress in 1923! Along with the 13th Amendment, the Electoral College, and other laws in the Constitution, the ERA still seeks to be added into our way of life as Americans in a justly fashion. I jotted down on my mobile the major "players" (Colin Kaepernick, Former President Donald Trump, President Biden, and Sen. Bernie Sanders) in American politics. Each has a unique agenda and can revolutionize the way things are done in this country but regardless of who our next Executive is he or she needs to address the major ills in our fundamental code of law.

While I voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary last presidential election, I don't see myself as Democratic Socialist but more of a "Democratic Communist". I say this because I believe it takes both Capitalism and Communism to run an effective and just economic system. Capitalism for individual growth and Communism for the growth of the whole. After history showing us how wicked Capitalism can be if left unchecked and the constant reality check I think most Americans go through when faced with traveling the "Road to the Riches", it is obvious to me that in order to ensure that every American enjoys a better way of life and opportunity to make that happen is to secure the rights of the individual and allow for the lifting of the populace.

Until next time, remember God loves you and so do I.
